Dr. Stephen Stratton and his wife Carol will be sharing on the emotional life of couples. He says : “Emotions are not something we can keep from others, even if we wanted to do so. Being relational beings, we are made to share our emotional lives with others. Any time we are in contact with other human beings, whether we are aware of it or not, we are sharing emotional states. Our bodies and brains are made to be “emotion receptors.” That is huge for our intimate relationships where we spend quite a bit of time in relational contact with one another. If we are not aware of the emotional process that contains us, we may even be “dangerous” to our partner. Maybe the most dangerous situation is when we are so caught up in the emotional flow, that we cease to be aware of the Holy Spirit who is present and working.” Dr. Stratton is Professor of Pastoral Care and Counseling.
