Faces: Rev. José Hernandez

Jose Hernandez at front desk

“Buenos Dias! Como esta Usted?” If you have heard these words upon entering our building, then you have been warmly welcomed by our dear brother, Rev. José Hernandez. José began working at the Florida campus in 2005 for the LLSP program and has been our front desk staff person since 2006. Everyone can testify that his genuine hospitality enables him to be a wonderful first impression of the Florida campus for countless students and campus visitors.

In the interest of connection and community, we would like for you to know a little bit more about our dear brother. He will celebrate 20 years of marriage to the lovely Ada Hernandez in December of this year, and they are the proud parents of a beautiful daughter, Michelle. José has been has been pastoring a church plant, Iglesia Comunidad Vida Abundante (Abundant Life Community Church) in Titusville, FL since March 2007 and was ordained in the Free Methodist Church in April of 2009.  He is pursuing the M.A.T.S. degree here on campus. José is also passionate about church planting and missions mobilization. In particular, he works with FollowOne International as the China Focus Team Coordinator.

You might wonder, “How on earth does José do all of this?” That’s a good question. You should ask him sometime. His favorite context for a conversation is over a meal. From military history to current events, José has fascinating perspectives that are always freely offered in a spirit of openness and authenticity. José is a vital component of the Florida campus community, and we hope that you will take the opportunity to sit and talk with him sometime soon.
